The Spartan Youth Jazz program provides opportunities for Detroit middle and high school students to study jazz with some of Detroit’s top music educators! With artist direction from MSU College of Music’s Distinguished Professor Rodney Whitaker, students receive weekly lessons learning jazz improvisation, composition, arranging, history, and ensemble playing.
